Watershed Studies

Anderson’s  approach to watershed investigations combines the strong technical capabilities necessary to evaluate the existing problems within a watershed and strong communication skills with a “common sense attitude” toward providing the most cost effective solutions to the client. ACE possesses the expertise and experience to successfully accomplish these truly multi-disciplinary investigations.  Our previous experience with both the technical and public consensus aspects of watershed investigations provides us a unique insight to assess the existing watershed conditions, evaluate the various objectives of the project sponsor/landowners, and to arrive at solutions which are not only technically sound, but economically feasible and acceptable.

Examples of Anderson Consulting Engineers watershed study experience are detailed in the interactive map below:

ACE utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to not only analyze the complex relationships within a watershed, but also to present the resulting information in a clear and concise manner in order to promote public understanding.  Watershed investigations involve a combination of stakeholder interviews, GIS data collection, and field investigations to develop an accurate picture of the issues in each watershed.  Topics of investigation can include:

  • Land use and management
  • Vegetation analysis
  • Wildlife
  • Geology and Soils
  • Hydrology
  • Stream channel conditions

  • Grazing activities and management
  • Range conditions
  • Irrigation
  • Climate
  • Cultural Sites
  • Energy development
